Update: Ferrari F2007’s water leak

Ferrari F2007 Raikkonen

Here is the whole translation of what Juha Päätalo said on his blog: Kimi’s engine did overheat on last laps, because the engine’s cooling system was leaking water. So the cooling system lost some of its power. Ferrari’s engine Chief Gilles Simon admitted the problem, but he wasn’t worried about it, and if he would be, they would change the engine for sure.

Apparently the problem was on some part of the cooling system that is outside of the engine, which can be replaced. Since we are talking about Ferrari, I think it should be sorted out before Malaysian GP.

The fact that teams test in Malaysia should make it easier to fix it. The only theoretical worry is that the same leak could re-appear in Malaysia, which would be much more fatal to the engine than in Australia because of the hot weather.

  3. @ carldec, yeah, its only another opportunity for Kimi to blitz the field from the back :P Bahrain 2006? Japan 2005? Kimi in that Ferrari, NO ONE stands a chance, hence the worried look on Alonso’ face last weekend.

Hoping good luck to your fav drivcer is OK, but it’s retarted to hope bad luck for others.

  5. […] What Ferrari could be more concerned about is the engine used by the Finn in Melbourne. As Fresh F1 previously reported, technicians from Maranello are estimating the state of the engine and will decide before the race […]

  6. is it “retarted” to wish for oh so small a water leak? I am not wishing him to hit a wall or anything retarded like that.
