Stepneygate update

We previously informed you about the espionage affair going involving Ferrari and McLaren here and here. According to the biggest newspaper in Italy, Gazzetta dello Sport, the search conducted in Stepney’s house did not reveal any incriminating evidence. Gazzeta’s sources say there is another McLaren technical member involved besides Mike Coughlan.
In the meantime, Ron Dennis said McLaren is innocent and that as long as he is in charge they will do nothing illegal. Speaking of the same case, Bernie Ecclestone said no matter what the results of the investigation will be, the drivers’ points will remain intact, and only team points could be deducted as a penalization.
The Stepneygate affair has lead to numerous rumors including the connection between McLaren’s protest against Ferrar’s flexi floor and the stolen documents found in Coughlan’s appartment or that McLaren did not bring some new parts tested at Silverstone at the last GP because they were of ‘Ferrari’ inspiration, due to fear of FIA scrutiny ; hence the underperformance of the team in France.
