Raikkonen’s engine overheated in Australia (confirmed)

Ferrari F2007
After the Australian F1 GP, ITV Sport’s Ted Kravits reported Kimi Raikkonen’s engine was begining to heat up towards the end of the race. Ted reported the cause for that was a wather leak in the cooling system. He said this explained why Ferrari were hanging out the `cool engine` sign to Kimi on his pit board.

Many fans were asking themselves whether this news was not just another marketing ploy to attract readers.

With the help of our Finnish corespondent, Warwick, we were able to find out respected Finnish journalist Juha Päätaloo confirmed on his blog Kimi did have the above mentioned problem.

In an answer to a comment on his blog, which posed the question whether the reporter knew about the Kimi’s engine leak, Päätalo answered affirmatively.

He added that Ferrari engine chief Gilles Simon confirmed the info that there was a leak on the water cooling system and the engine ran overheated for the last laps but there shouldn’t have been any damage.

If Ferrari does, in the end, decide to change Kimi’s engine in Malaysia, as a matter of precaution, one couldn’t help wonder whether that wasn’t the result of the problem arisen in Australia…
