Raikkonen: We must be perfect. Others must fail
BUDAPEST (Hungary), August 1st, 2007 - After a week dedicated to the spy story full of controversy, the F1 cars return on track. Ferrari and McLaren have just arrived at Hungaroring for the eleventh GP of the season.
RESTART - The 18 points that separate Lewis Hamilton from Kimi Raikkonen make Nurburgring a race to forget. “Sure, I
I put the Grand prix of Europe behind me and I don’t want to talk about it. What is sure is I’m not going to Hungary by feeling defeated, not at all. Something, however, must be clear: I only won this race one. It’s very tough on the physical side. Only if you win, you don’t suffer at Hungaroring”.
IDEAL CONDITIONS - Ferrari can no longer fail to finish. “Finishing ahead of other drivers fighting for the championship is the only way to gain ground - says the Finn. I am more or less in the same positiong like before Nurburgring, but it is obvious I can’t afford races without points.”
TOWARDS QUALIFYING - “Everyone says McLaren should be stronger than us, but I don’t believe it’s going to be this way. Hungaroring is very slow and trecherous, and the two fundamental aspects are the turn entrance and the traction: if these two work, one has good cards to start with.” Finally, the start will be essential: “Being ahead in qualifying to avoid the dirty side of the track is the objective”
