Nostalgia from Briatore and Todt
Small errors from the bosses of Renault and Ferrari in the Sepang press conference: both spoke about Alonso and Schumacher like if they were still their pilots. Only lapsus?
SEPANG (Malaysia), April 6th 2007 - Flavio Briatore and Jean Todt still think about Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher. Possible? Possible, at least to judge from the errors which they both made today in the Friday’s press conference.
Briatore (that had Giancarlo Fisichella seated at his side) was asked how much would Alonso be missed at Renault during the season. Answer: “I am happy with Fernando and Heikki [Kovalainen]”. Embarrassment. And Briatore, noticing it: “Did I say Fernando? “.Well, maybe [it can be] a lapsus. But just a little after that Jean Todt followed him on the tracks of `amnesia` speaking again about “Michael” like if the German were still the reference driver at Ferrari. And curiously Raikkonen was seated near him as well.
Perhaps (indeed, for sure) it has been be a matter of simple habit to speak about their two champions who have changed teams (Alonso passed this year to McLaren) or have retired (in the case Jean Todt the partnership with Schumi lasted uninterruptedly from 1996 to 2006, so a lapsus from him is still more comprehensible than that of Briatore). But isn’t there a trace of nostalgia as well?
