McLaren’s aero package explained
“McLaren’s aerodynamic evolution was focused mainly on the car body. The integration of small deflectors attached to the sides of the cockpit allows the flow directions to be modified to reduce the turbulence on the sides of the cockpit and the entrance in the radiators. Interesting the adoption of the element in the peripheral area of the car body, which integrated to the already existing characteristics allow for two types of differentiated pressures to be generated. The lower one has smaller values, to reduce the air inflitrations under the car, improving the pressure target and so [making the car] giving it more adherence [to the ground].”
