McLaren dominate Montmelo practice

The two Free Practice sessions for the GP of Spain at Montmeló were dominated by the the two silver Arrows’ drivers: the first one by Hamilton, the second one by Alonso. The second absolute time was Fisichella’s.

MONTMELO (Spain), May 11 th 2007 - Michael Schumacher returns, but the first day of Spanish Grand Prix is under the sign of McLaren. The German visited Ferrari while on track Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were dominating the two practice sessions. The Englishman had the third absolute best time of the day.

WHICH RENAULT? - The second best time was surprisingly set by Giancarlo Fisichella on his Renault, second in the second session in front of the teammate, Kovalainen. It’s difficult to speak about a resurgence of the reigning World Champion team: today their performance was good, but the qualifying tomorrow will clear things up on that perspective. Ferrari? They seemed to be hiding a bit. In absolute times Felipe Massa was fifth while Kimi Raikkonen was sixth. Let’s not forget that on this track the red team gathered an enormous quantity of data from the optimal tests carried out in the past weeks.
