Kubica changes driving style

Adapting to the new generation of tyres was the greatest challenge the drivers had to face in preseason testing. For the ex-Michelin pilots, there were two lessons on the agenda: understanding how the harder japanese tyres work and integrating the Bridgestone driving style into the driving style formed with Michelin tyres.

One of the promising representatives of the new-wave of Formula 1 drivers, Robert Kubica, admits having had to dispose of what he had learned in the past. “The greatest difference does not come from the cars but from the tyres” revealed the Pole. “The Bridgestone structure is different to what we were using last year, so one has to adapt his style of driving consequently. explained Robert, whose style is close to that of Alonso. Both use a combination of brutal direction changes and late braking in line.

“I feel this is already behind us now. I drive more smoothly with less steering angle and it is okay. Some drivers have to change their style more and some less”
