Kimi: Adapting takes time

Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari
This year Kimi Räikkönen tested for 20 days and 6600.5 km before his first Grand Prix with Ferrari. Talking to the Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat Kimi admits that adapting to the team takes time, because all things are new for him.

From all the new things, the tyres have made it much more difficult to adapt, and even the weather wasn’t on our side untill Barcelona. When I got to drive on a dry track, it started going better and better. Every time it feels better.

Ferrari’s control equipment is totally different and more sophisticated than what it was on McLaren. “But I’m on my way to learn them.” says the Finnish Ferrari driver. “It just takes time to find those things that I like.

At McLaren race engineer Mark Slade knew what Kimi wanted just just by catching a glimpse of his eyes. Kimi only rounded up 20 days of work with Chris Dyer, his engineer at Ferrari, so it is clear that the relationship between them has only begun to form.

Of course it’s learning for the both sides, but it is slowly starting to work. I think that the situation is the same for both parties, we both have a lot to learn [about the other]Kimi said referring to the relationship with Dyer.”We work together. Chris is very much the same as Mark Slade was. We haven’t talked what he did with Michael, we decided to start from a clean sheet.

Quick note: Ferrari will perform the shakedowns for all the three cars on Thursday with Luca Badoer. After that the F2007-trio will be sent to Australia.
