Fisichella demands radical changes to the car

The situation at Renault camp is worrying

Giancarlo Fisichella demanded radical changes on Tuesday’s Auto Sprint paper.

“In order to save our season, it’s better to make radical changes and solve the whole problem than limb slowly forward. We should build a whole new front suspension and modify the chassis, even that would take a lot of time.
Italian driver admits to miss the happy time with Michelin.”

“There is no point in hiding it. We miss Michelin. Our relationship with Michelin brought two World Championships. Now, things are out of control. When every team uses the same tyres and engine development is freezed, improving the car is more difficult.”

“I’m worried. Those sectors where we can make some improvement are little. Because of that it would be better to make radical changes, even if that took a lot of time.”

“For as long as I have been at Renault, we have had an upperhand on others in Australia. But this was clearly the weakest Renault I have ever driven in Melbourne.”

“It was a shock to see how big advantage Ferrari and McLaren had compared to us. We had 1.6 sec gap to Kimi Räikkönen and half second gap to McLaren. You obviously can’t accept that. That’s why I wouldn’t leave anything to chance, I would start radical changes.”

Fisichella doesn’t test at all in Malaysia, but he knows what will happen

“We’ll get some new parts, but our speed is the one you’ve seen. There isn’t much to do about it. No matter how much we would improve, Ferrari will be a long way ahead of us for several races.”
There is no time for a new car

Renault are denying that they are designing a whole new R27B chassis. It would takes at least 3 months to build a new car. A new aero package is promised to come for Bahrain GP.

Piquet Jr. started Renault’s tests, but his day ended early because of technical problems. Heikki Kovalainen will take over on Wednesday and Thursday.

One Response to “Fisichella demands radical changes to the car”

  1. boo hoo hoo, poor little fitsi…

the twit is a third rate driver in a first rate car. He just insnt quick when he needs to be, he doesnt push at the right times, he brain farts and makes stupid mistakes on a pretty regular basis… and he complains publicly about everyone but himself.

Almost anyone on the grid would get more out of the Renaults than he does.

anyone want to take some bets on him lasting out the season?
