Alonso wins action-packed German GP

Today’s German Grand Prix at Nurburgring was, like Canada, a thrilling Grand Prix. It was supposed to be a battle of four, after the start of the race, when, for a short time, Hamilton managed to get from 10th on the grid to 4th. But since the rain had begun to pour, Hamilton quickly lost ground. By the end of lap three, the conditions were extremly difficult, as Nick Heidfeld said on the radio: “Undrivable”, while the team were informing him that the Safety Car was out. The race was stopped at lap four, but not all the cars were able to restart.
Hamilton was one of the fortunate ones, as he kept his engine running after this offtrack, but was still a lap down. After the restart, Massa quickly became the leader, Alonso was second and Kimi Raikkonen had climbed up to third. Hamilton was meanwhile doing a solitary race, at over 80 seconds behind the leaders, but lapping 3 seconds faster per lap than the man in front of him - Trulli.
Drama struck again, as Raikkonen limped to the pits with hydraulics failure. Massa then pulled an 8 second gap to Alonso and all seemed over for the Spaniard. However, rain stuck again, and Alonso was quickly behing Massa. Despite resisting attacks for a while, Massa was unable to keep the McLaren behind him, and Alonso was through - making contact with the Ferrari. The contact stirred controversy, Alonso accusing Massa of lack of sportmanship, while Massa was already furious he had lost the victory. Third was Mark Webber, for RedBull Racing, while Alex Wurz finished 4th for Williams. David Coulthard and the two BMWs followed. Hamilton just missed on the points finishing right behind Heikki Kovalainen, who was 8th.
