Alonso favored by Dennis chosen strategy

A wave of controversy was started after Lewis Hamilton expressed his disappointment in being the “number 2 driver”. After the race it was revealed that McLaren team boss Ron Dennis had decided different strategies for his two drivers: Alonso had a 2 stop strategy, while Hamilton was on a “flexible” strategy, in case the Safety car was deployed. Since the latter event did not occur, Alonso was favoured and he easily won the race ahead of his teammate.

McLaren’s pace eclipsed everyone, including main rival, Ferrari. Massa finished 70 seconds behind the leader, in 3rd place, while Raikkonen managed to get the final point after starting in 16th position on the grid. Fisichella was probably the surprise of the day, finishing in 4th.

  1. Yes they put Lewis on the “heavy fuel strategy” - the one that makes the car come in second..ha ha.Lewis also shouldn’t have referred to the back markers as “monkeys” in an interview with ITV’s Steve Ryder before the race - this might have hindered his passage through them during the race.
