A Grand Prix in Versailles?

PARIS (France), 6th June 2007 - Magny- Cours’ “death certificate” is coming directly from Bernie Ecclestone. The Grand Prix of France could be reborn on the streets and the Park of Versailles. A dream that might come true thanks to a stubborn group of local counselors from the Paris neighboring town.
“What once seemed undreamable - said Jean Baptiste Mauvaud , vice mayor of Versailles, to L’Equipe magazine - could now become reality”. As soon as 2009.
This could mean the end of Magny-Cours, which hosts the GP of France since 1991. Ecclestone repeated last week: “The infrastructure is missing and all promises made by the managers to improve the hospitality and ease of access never left the drawing board”. Two months ago another hypothesis was first heard - a circuit at Eurodisney, a location capable of handling the huge flow of fans, professionals and teams, that every Grand Prix has to deal with. It remains to be seen which will triumph in the end: Disney or Versailles.
