2007 Canadian Grand Prix Race Report

Robert Kubica Montreal crash Canadian Grand Prix

Finally a decent race this season! It was definitely good for the show that  Albers, Sutil and Liuzzi “called” the Safety Car on track a number of times. As far as confusion goes, everything happened! The only normal facts were Hamilton’s victory (six races, six podiums) and Heidfeld’s second place, though the latter was a bit far fetched from normal.

The rest was totally unpredictible! Wurz on the podium with a wrecked Williams one a one-stopper. Sato having passed Alonso in the end,who would have imagined?

- Massa and Fisichella black-flagged … Montoya recieved the same treatment in 2005. The traffic light is great. (Sh)It happens, but the price for Felipe is  dear, because he fights for the lead

- Raikkonen… There must be a serious error from those people doing the evaluation in F1. Who are you, Kimi? To revert the image ruined in this season debut, you need to win three races in a row! You still owe a lot to Ferrari fans!

- And Alonso? Driving like a novice, contrasting with his teammate who had a brilliant race. Alonso made errors “in bulk”, from the off tracks, to being humiliated by Sato (yes, he had no brakes, but hey! Bad Luck!). Seventh place, another dissapointment. Is he a genius? Well, he won two tiles in front of Schumacher. He may be living a bad moment. But that moments goes on, and on and on…

- The race’s performers ? Hamilto, Wurz and Sato, in the first place. Kovalainen and Ralf in the second place.

- On Kubica: if it were not for the HANS, he would be being buried now, he only had a sprained ankle. Vettel could take his place. It will be decided on Thursday. Kubica’s accident was dreadful, the accident.

- Finally, Hamilton. Clearly he is talented and way above the average. After all, he is driving double World Champion Alonso crazy. But he continues being  helped by the car he has.  He’s creating a beautiful path for himself. Flavio Gomes sees in Hamilton the synthesis of the F1 of today. A very fit, fast and almost faultless driver. He is yet to come under serious pressure, but from now on, he will be. After all, he is the sole leader of the F1 World Championship. He is a clean pilot and a person of great value. It makes for the sport good to have an contender with such a good evolution.

- All in all, a good race! Who doesn’t love a good race?

This report couldn’t have been written without the great help of our Brazilian friend and experienced journalist, Flavio Gomes.
